I moved to Texas in July of 2011. It wasn’t long after that I found and fell in love with The Yoga Stand. I had practiced yoga a little before moving to Lubbock, but never before like this.
The team at The Yoga Stand pushed me to grow deeper in my practice and, more importantly, grow deeper in myself, which got me thinking. I began to look around me and, I must admit, began to envy this “Texas pride” thing everyone had going on.
People seemed to be deeply rooted here and I seemed to be the lost sheep. I began to question, “Where are my roots?” I am originally from Mississippi, a state that I am proud to be from, but I didn’t feel rooted there. I lived in Kentucky for a few years where I met some dear friends but didn’t feel that was where I wanted to “root” down either.
So, I found myself in Lubbock, Texas, on my mat struggling with where my roots were. Then I participated in the Teacher Training Program at The Yoga Stand. Oh…My… Goodness. Things began to become so real and clear to me. I began to feel a part of something that was bigger than state borders.
And what I discovered was this…it takes soil for roots to grow. I truly believe that I was created by the Creator from the dust of this earth. Therefore, my roots are in me and I have the ability to grow wherever I Am. So, I have made the decision to root down and rise no matter where I am so I may flow!
I hope you will flow with me!
